Cooking with the kids!
Cooking is a
lot of fun. And a great way to hang out with your kids. You will love
experimenting with different types and techniques of food. It's also a great
way for your kids to learn the importance of healthy eating.
If you enjoy
cooking, I hope you enjoy eating it too!
There are
many ways to learn. Seeing mom or dad is probably the easiest, and if mom and
dad are beginners too, a good, easy-to-follow cookbook is always a great
help—one like Annabel Karmel's' "Mum and Me" cookbook. Grandmas can
also be a great source for recipes, especially anything related to pastries and
treats!
When all of
the recipes have been tried, it is great to invite a group of friends to a
cooking party where everyone can cook a meal together. You could even have your
restaurant at home - write a menu, let the kids take orders with notepad and
pencil, then let them serve the food. Kids love role play and will enjoy being
waiters at night.
We hope that the freedom in the kitchen will
lead to a life of culinary enjoyment and all that is nutritious! And enjoy
every minute of your time together; after all, eating is an important part of
the day, we do it three times a day on average. Good cooking, learn from your
mistakes and don't be afraid to make a mess.
